Bringing In $100K A Year Tattooing Hair In Hawaii | On The Side


This was another remote job working with the same CNBC team of producers on the east coast. It was fun to work with these folks again. They shared that they enjoyed working with us. For producer team, working remotely with video production teams allowed them grow the reach of their show throughout the country highlighting a diverse set of subjects and communities. 

Ryan and Hannah Maruyama, 29 and 26, are small business owners living in Honolulu, Hawaii who have a passion for assisting people without college degrees find lucrative careers. This passion also helped them start their own cosmetic tattoo business. They primarily tattoo hair on people who suffer from hair loss. 

When Covid-19 shut down businesses in 2020, the couple pivoted to providing hair consultations and also created a YouTube channel. They both have traditional day jobs that they enjoy, and they also work full-time managing the hair tattoo business.
