Living On $83K A Year In Hilo, Hawaii | Millennial Money

We traveled to Hilo on the island of Hawaii to shoot this installment of the CNBC series Make It - Millennial Money, which profiles people across the globe and details how they earn, spend and save their money.

We met with Shayla Marie Ma-e, Matthew Piianaia-Ishii, and their young twin daughters at their home. The interview and accompanying Broll footage were shot in one day. This episode was a departure from the hyper-successful millennials the series has been focused on recently. This young couple is struggling in Hawaii like many other families and it shines a light on that reality.

As Shayla shares in this episode, living in Hawaii "isn't all sunsets and coconuts". We wish them well in the future as they work toward their goal of moving to Oregon to chase new opportunities.
